Topic: “The Science of Sensitivities”
Multiple Chemical Sensitivities – fact or fiction? For more than two decades, the diagnosis of MCS has been hotly debated by researching scientists, physicians, and IH/IAQ practitioners. This presentation explores studies that support and deny the existence of MCS and explains hypotheses on mechanisms for both purported genuine and psychosomatic manifestations of chemical sensitivities.
Speaker: Cassidy Kuchenbecker. Cassidy is a microbiologist with Environmental Initiatives. Cassidy recently completed a Master’s thesis exploring the effects of damp buildings on the immunological and neurological systems. Part of this thesis required extensive studies regarding chemical sensitivities and the evidence supporting and denying the existence of MCS.
